Meeting 3/9/05
People present: Lori Kessel,
Tony White, Gillian Fox, Mike Hartley, and Nicole Oxenford Called to order at
10:30.
Next Brown Bag Lunch 3/29/05
12:00 noon in Room 293-Ann Griffin from Grant Wood Area Education Agency;
Adapted Physical Education Teacher of the Year.
April Brown Bag Lunch 12:00
noon 4/26/05 Location TBA-we want to get Dr.
Tarvydas and Dr. Saunders to
talk about certification and licensure.
For future Brown Bag Lunches
we discussed having people who have been in the field longer who have more
experience. Gillian suggested that we
ask Elaine Sweet to come and talk about county funding in September. Elaine is the Director of MHDD in Johnson
County and the Central Point (CPC) of Contact for Johnson County as well. There will be a forum for funding for Johnson
County at the Public Library in October of 2005 that will be attended by State
Representatives and the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. This is an open forum for anyone who wants to
know more about funding.
Conference call with Betty
Hedgeman is being worked out. It will be on March 30, 2005 and the time and
place will be announced later. We will
be asking her the following questions:
1) What is the role and function of UI-ARCA with regard to the
organization as a whole?
2) How can UI-ARCA best get involved with ARCA?
Lori sent in a funding
request for UI-ARCA which included office supplies, Spring Colloquium expenses,
and the 2005 ACA Conference travel expenses for those who indicated they wanted
funding.
Other agenda items:
We discussed having a party
for students and faculty of Rehab Counseling in April. This would be a bowling party at Colonial
Lanes tentatively on April 16th or 23rd..
We again talked about having
an orientation for incoming students on June 10th during the computer class on
Friday. Information to be given out will
include: clinical handbook,
student handbook, information about the CRC, upcoming events, and starting a
mentoring program for incoming students.
We would go in the last ten minutes of their class and talk to them for
a while.
This orientation will be
followed by a party for the students and faculty with the date and location
TBA. We want to get everyone involved
with this information packet so that we can get as much information as possible
to the new students.
